The holiday season is here, and with it, some much earned time off to share with family and friends! Our staff knows the best places to have a great drink and unwind, no matter where you are staying on Maui. Whether you are looking for a place with a great happy hour, an amazing ambience, or a unique and cocktail you can’t get anywhere else, we know the place for you!
Monkeypod in Wailea
Monkeypod has two happy hours, from 3:00-5:00pm and from 9:00-11:00pm. They have amazing “handcrafted culinary cocktails” including the best Mai Tai (& only Mai Tai I’ll drink). They make a homemade lili’koi puree foam to top off the cocktail, it makes all the difference. Go at happy hour, you’ll spend $9 instead of $13.50 on cocktails. They also 36 microbrews with deals during happy hour as well.
Fleetwoods on Front Street in Lahaina
Fleetwoods is known for their cocktails. Rooftop seating, with its beautiful views of the ocean, is a must! The Thomas is refreshing with Maui made vodka and fresh local ingredients. My favorite there! Go at happy hour (2-5 pm) and you’ll get 50% off their classic cocktails. They also have a “Sunset Ceremony” every evening at 5:45 featuring their Resident Bagpiper or Hawaiian Kumu (teacher), which is very interesting!
Hali’imaile General Store
Hali’imaile General Store is a great restaurant located in upcountry Maui. They just recently introduced their first happy hour, from 3:00-5:30 pm, in their 28 year history as a restaurant! They have $8 cocktail specials featuring Pau Vodka, $4 Maui Brewing Company beers, as well as wine and well drink specials. My all-time favorite drink is a “Maui Mule” (this place & drink started me on it). It’s a refreshing ginger flavored cocktail made just right served in a copper mug!
Bistro Casanova in Kahului
Just 1 mile from the airport, Casanova Bistro has a great happy hour, just $5 for a carafe of mojitos, margaritas, Pinot Grigio or Chianti. Their mojitos are delicious and the have great food there to go with it too! Their happy hour is from 4-6pm Monday-Saturday and they have a special tapas menu from 3-5pm.
Moose McGillycuddy’s in Kihei
The best happy hour deals are at Moose McGillycuddy's in Kihei from 4:00-7:00 pm with $3.00 cocktails and beer. Most other places happy hour ends by 5! Upstairs has a nice ocean view and lots of TV’s for games. A great casual atmosphere to relax and have some fun.
Tommy Bahama’s in Wailea
Some of the most fun/creative drinks are made at Tommy Bahama’s at the shops at Wailea. They have some really fun creative cocktails such as the Coconut Cloud, the Pineapple Yuzu Mojito, and the Mango Habanero Margarita. My favorite is the Grapefruit Basil Martini! They also have some fun non-alcoholic drinks such as the Faux-jito and the Blue My Mind. Their “Island Time” happy hour is from 2-5pm.
Maui Brewing Company in Lahaina & Kihei
Maui Brewing Company now has two locations, a brewpub in Lahaina and a tasting room in Kihei. This is a must do for those interested in local breweries. They have a thirty-two tap draft system as well as a selection of ciders, wines, and cocktails. They also offer their beer to go in four packs, six packs, crowlers, growlers, and kegs! Their happy hour is from 3-6pm with $1 off their beers on tap. They also have a rotating schedule of food trucks at their tasting room, see the schedule on their website!
Want to know where to go after a great flight with Air Maui? Just ask one of our friendly receptionists! Let them know what you are looking for and they will know just what to recommend. Here is what some of our guests have to say about their experiences:
“I treated my husband to a flight for his 40th birthday. We both enjoyed our air tour of West Maui and Molokai with our pilot. She was a fantastic pilot and narrated our flight making sure everyone could have fantastic view of waterfalls and a 360 degree rainbow, among other features. Even better, after the flight she gave us some of her best local recommendations for the week ahead.” - Megan R
“An amazing adventure. If you do one thing in Maui make it a helicopter tour with Air Maui. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Even have some great recommendations for places to go on the island. Our pilot was very knowledgeable and made sure everyone got great views.” - Sheldon H
“My husband had one goal this trip and that was making sure I knocked things off my beloved bucket list, and he is blowing it out of the water. He set up this helicopter tour - something I've wanted to do for years, and though we both got a little bit sick - it was truly incredible. There is no better way to see the spectacular views of Maui. Our pilot was informative, gave great suggestions of places to visit and eat at, and had all kinds of information and knowledge to share with us. The scenery was beautiful and this was truly the highlight of our trip. Unparalleled beauty. If you have money for just one thing this trip, do this. Everyone does the snorkeling and the usual - this blows the usual out of the water.” - UbiquitousArtist
