Want to learn more about our Oceanfront Landing Tour?
Air Maui’s Oceanfront Helicopter Landing and Tour is a beautiful, one of a kind experience. Keep reading to learn more about some of the highlights of this tour, which includes awe-inspiring views from both West Maui and Molokai, as well as a stop at our private landing location on the North Shore of Maui. Also, enjoy a sneak peek of pictures taken directly from our in-flight video.
As you fly over West Maui you will see the winding, sometimes one-way, scenic coastline road to Lahaina. We will also take you into beautiful Waihee Valley and over Kahakuloa and Nakalele point on our way to crossing Pailolo Channel.
Waihee Valley is the second wettest place in the world, giving it a lush, otherworldly feel. Because of the many waterfalls and steams in this area you cannot hike to the back of the valley. This makes the views of the Wall of Tears and Maui’s tallest waterfall, Honokohau falls, that much more special.
Located on Nakalele point, Nakalele blowhole is a naturally created hole in the lava rock that can spout sea water as high as 100 feet into the air given the right conditions. This can be seen from the helicopter as you fly over. People also park up by the road and take a hike down to view it in person.
Molokai is located 8 miles across Pailolo Channel. This is the fifth largest Hawaiian island, but only has a population of about 7,000 people. This island is relatively undeveloped and boasts some beautiful valleys full of waterfalls, the tallest sea cliffs in the world, and beautiful beaches that can only be reached by boat or helicopter.
Halawa Valley was the first place settled by Hawaiians in 650 a.d. There are many beautiful waterfalls in this valley, including the tallest waterfall in the state of Hawaii, which is almost 1750 feet. The waterfalls to the right can be reached by a short hike from the coast and have pools at the bottom in which people often swim.
Tallest Sea Cliffs if the World
Molokai’s sea cliffs are 6,000 feet tall and are a sight to behold. Difficult to describe or capture in a photograph, they are something truly amazing to see in person.
Wailau Valley has a beautiful black sand beach that is a popular camping and fishing spot. It can only be reached by helicopter or boat, so people often boat in and stay for a few nights and then boat back out.

“My husband and I visited Maui during our honeymoon and we did the West Maui & Molokai with Oceanfront Landing tour. It was such a fun experience!! Neither of us had ever done a helicopter tour before and this was more fun than I expected it to be! I would highly, highly recommend Air Maui! Our pilot (Troy) was very knowledgeable, funny & he had the best playlist which made the ride even more fun!” - Hanna R
“Had an amazing pilot Richie. We did the oceanfront landing and it was stunning! Would do it again and recommend everyone to give it a try.” - o_khorovets
“From the planning phase, to the flight, to the oceanfront landing, to the proposal, to the service, to our amazing pilot and the Air Maui team the event was outstanding. Fun and unbelievable scenery. I didn't think there was anything on Maui I haven't seen over the years but this experience was worth every dollar we spent. The look on Laura's face was worth every moment of planning. If you are going to do a helicopter in Maui do Air Maui!” - Mike S
