Waterfalls of Maui & Molokai

Maui and Molokai have some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world (some over 2000 feet). With the above average rainfall that Maui has received this year, these waterfalls have been a particularly spectacular sight to see. Many of these waterfalls are difficult if not impossible to see except from the air, especially those on the Molokai sea cliffs. Below are just a few of the amazing waterfalls that you can see on various Air Maui tours.

Hipuapua Falls Moaula

Hipuapua and Moa’ula Waterfalls

Located in Molokai in the Halawa Valley, these waterfalls are only accessible by land if you travel through property. If you want to hike to these falls, you will need a local guide. You can swim in the pools below these waterfalls. Hipuapua Falls is 500 feet tall and Moa’ula is a double tiered fall which drops a total of 250 feet.

Papalaua Waterfall, located on the Northern part of Molokai, is an impressive 1,200 feet. Legend has it that the water spirit mo’o, in the form of a lizard, lives behind the falls. Many consider it to be one of the best waterfalls in Hawaii.

wall of tears

Wall of Tears

The wall of tears consists of as many as 17 waterfalls when it is raining. Hidden deep within the West Maui Mountains in Waihe’e Valley, you are lucky if you get a glimpse of them.

Molokai Sea Cliffs

During the rainy season, many waterfalls can be seen streaming down the Molokai sea cliffs, traveling more than 2,000 feet to the sea below. These are the tallest sea cliffs in the world, creating quite an awe inspiring sight when covered in falls.

“The views were amazing, the smiles on my family's face as we soared above and below waterfalls, cliffs and valleys, were amazing!!! I seriously would do this again.” - CandiceandJeremy

“The views were spectacular! The cliffs, valleys and waterfalls of Molokai were so amazing and the helicopter gave views and perspective that could not have been appreciated from the ground.” - Karen B

“Hawaii is so beautiful already but by taking the helicopter tour of West Maui and Molokai, we got to see mountain tops, birds-eye views of turquoise waters and cascading waterfalls and steep cliffs.” - Angelica T
